Cyber Security Awareness Information

Brought to you by Mimecast and St Peter's Girls' School.

Week 1 - Collaborate carefully

You are far more likely to trust a link if it's sent via a collaboration tool. But this puts you at risk from threat actors.

  • Check that link before you open it - even if it's from your manager.
  • Don't automatically trust an attachment that's sent via a collaboration tool.
  • Make sure you're aware of common threats with collaboration-tool-specific awareness training.

Week 2 - Power up your passwords

Weak passwords leave you vulnerable – power up your passwords with multi-factor authentication.

Power password tips:

  • Create and manage passwords with a password manager.
  • Use different passwords for each online account.
  • Activate multi-factor authentication.

Week 3 - Surf the web safely

The web is rife with cyber threats. Keep yourself protected by avoiding unnecessary risks while surfing online.

Safe surfing tips:

  • Think before you click - don't open links unless you know where they point to.
  • Free WiFi is rarely free - rather, use a network you can trust.
  • S is for Safe - if the link starts with "https", it's secure.

Week 4 - Rely on fact over phishin'

Nine out of ten successful attacks involve human error. But with the right facts about phishin' (and other cyber threats), you can avoid online risks and keep safe.

Phishing facts:

  • 3 billion phishing messages are sent per day.
  • 80% of reported security incidents involve phishing.
  • One-click is all it takes - so think first and look before you click!
